KIDS AT THE HUNT LIBRARY
Currently we are not allowing children under the age of 12 in the library. Beginning in July we will be offering half hour appointments for family browsing on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm. Email us at email@example.com or call the library at (860) 824-7424 to make an appointment. You always have the option of sending an email or calling with a list for curbside pick up.
The children’s section at the David M. Hunt Library holds more than 6,500 books, 250 movies and 60 audio books for children ages birth to 13. New items are added to the collection every month. With toys, games and puzzles for all ages the children’s room is a great place to visit.
You can join Rita for virtual story time anytime on Rita’s YouTube channel.
We promote early literacy with our weekly Story Time and Story Hour. Children’s librarian Rita Delgado runs an interactive story time for children ages birth to three on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am which includes stories, songs, a craft and a snack. On Thursdays at 10:30 am Story Hour engages children ages 3-5.
During the summer children ages 5 and up sign up for the Hunt’s popular summer reading program. Kids receive points for every twenty minutes they read and can redeem their points for prizes. During the months of July and August the Hunt offers numerous programs for kids of all ages, ranging from 4-H programs to cooking with Jenny Schwartz from the BerKshire Co-op to fields trips to Great Mountain Forest. Check back in June for next year’s summer reading schedule.
