In this two-hour workshop, participants will be given an introduction to Shakespeare’s gorgeous language and the delightful characters and tricky plot of one of his finest comedies. We will memorize a key speech from Twelfth Night, read and perform several other captivating monologues and dialogues from the play as well as read an abridged story version and have lively discussions about Shakespeare’s language and the characters and plot of Twelfth Night. This workshop is suited for students new to Shakespeare as well as those already in love with the Bard.

We will meet outside the theater (probably in the tented Rose Theater; detailed information to follow) an hour before the performance for a half-hour prologue. I will present the setting and introduce the characters to make the show itself more understandable and enjoyable. We might also have an actor talk-back after the show.
