The Hunt Library ArtWall has opened a special edition of its year-end flash art exhibition, this year titled Twelve by Twelve. It will be on display during library operating hours and can be viewed online at our ArtWall to Go page where artworks can be reserved for purchase.
For the past nine years, the Hunt ArtWall’s annual 12X12 exhibitions showcased over 100 artworks all measuring 12×12 inches by more than 70 artists and priced at $100 each. In normal times, a crowd of 120+ guests would await the “unveiling” of the exhibition and vie for their favorites.
Faced with modifying this popular event during the pandemic and unable to have formal receptions, we invited a “cohort” grouping of twelve artists who live in Falls Village to exhibit one work each, with work dimensions and prices at their personal discretion.
Encompassing painters, photographers, and sculptors, the twelve artists are Marsha Altemus, John Atchley, Robert Cronin, Sergei Fedorjaczenko, John Hodgson, Jason Bailer Losh, Louise March, Sarah Martinez, Ken Musselman, Gayle Shanley, Jude Streng, and Kathy Wismar.
This exhibition is dedicated to Lillian Lovitt, a sculptor who for years has generously shared her skills and insight with the Hunt Library ArtWall and with the Falls Village-Canaan Historical Society. Lillian died earlier this year, and one of her works will be on display as a memorial tribute to her life and art.
