In June and July, the David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village (CT) will present SEEING DOUBLE: TAKE TWO featuring the work of painter Janet Andre Block and fiber artist Kate Stiassni.  A reception for the artists will be held on Saturday June 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition will be on display at the library during operating hours through July 14.  David M. Hunt Library, 63 Main Street, Falls Village, CT, 860-824-7424 or visit HuntLibrary.org.

SEEING DOUBLE is a culmination of the ongoing dialogue and studio visits of artists Janet Andre Block and Kate Stiassni.  This is their second exhibition together, the first was at the White Gallery in Lakeville.

“Whenever I visit Kate’s studio, there is a lot of color, perfectly assembled, in such original ways.  I love her new work with silk. It adds such an ethereal feeling.” says Janet. Kate says she has been “influenced by Janet’s poetic and spare gestural style.  Her paintings convey a deep spiritual quality to me.”

This new exhibition conveys each artist’s quite independent visions.  In Kate’s new series, she sculpts hand-dyed fabrics into three dimensional shapes to evoke the ephemeral qualities of light and shadow.  Janet returns to flowers in a looser, more open manner and includes a new adaptation of the 2×2 paintings she created and gifted during the Pandemic.
